Covid-19
Catch-Up Funding

Following the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent closure of schools, the government issued an amount of catch-up funding to all schools to support with closing gaps in learning. The amount of funding allocated is based on pupil numbers and is paid over two financial years.

At Moorgate Primary Academy we are receiving  £21,600

At Moorgate Primary Academy we have considered the what children missed during the lockdown when deciding how to allocate and spend our money. For example, those children who are now in Years 3-6 did not come back to school at all until Spetember and therefore have lost a lot of time from their learning. We have also used the government recommended, 'COVID-19 Support Guide for Schools' published by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) to identify the best strategies, based on long term research, that will enable us to achieve the most positive outcomes.

Catch-Up Funding proposed expenditure

Target 1: Support children in Y3-6 with the learning that they lost during lockdown including targetting accelerated progress for children who have fallen behind.

% of the funding: 100% The funding doesn't actually cover the cost of a teacher but we have allocated aspects of the budget to cover the remaining amount.

Strategies: We have employed an extra teacher on a one year fixed contract to allow all classes within KS2 to be taught as straight age classes (usually we have mixed age). This will allow teachers to focus on lost aspects of the curriculum at an age appropriate level. The additional teacher will also mean smaller class sizes accross KS2 (average class size of 22 instead of average class size of 27).
